A few weekends ago Mikayla took Kiyo and me to Esperanto in the East Village for Brazilian / South American brunch. She and I both ordered the huevos rancheros: two fried eggs with pico de gallo, black beans, a crispy tortilla and home fries. Everything on the plate was super flavorful, from the oily tortilla to the spicy home fries, and even the earthy black beans. Our meals each came with a cup of coffee and a breakfast cocktail (we both had bloody Marys).
The colorful decor and the loud, happy crowd reminded me of a Caribbean beach bar, and sitting at brunch that day Mikayla and I decided that going to a beach for Memorial Day Weekend was a must; hence, today we are in Delaware checking out the beaches. The Caribbean would have been ideal, but this is so much cheaper. Plus, now I can check Delaware off the state to-do list!
