One night Chelsea and I met at Express Manna Kitchen for a Korean dinner. It’s a very small place, and you order at the counter then pick up your food on a tray. I ordered the jap-chae donburi, or stir-fried sweet potato noodles with vegetables and chicken. I didn’t expect the noodles to be translucent and so squishy. The texture really wasn’t ideal for me, but all the flavors were good. I also had an order of dumplings, which were OK but nothing great. Chelsea I think felt the same about her meal: a bit underwhelmed*. There’s nothing bad about this place, just nothing particularly memorable.

*Note: after this post went up, I got a text from my dad about how many Korean places put MSG in their food. Express Manna Kitchen claims that it does not use MSG, which probably accounts for the fact that there is nothing addictive about their food; this is good for our health but bad for our taste buds.
