This Tuesday we had no food in the house so I called Kiyo and met him for dinner after work at Veslo, a small Croatian restaurant near our apartment. Even though I thought it would be too much food (and it was!) I agreed to share the Dalmatian platter with him. It included thinly sliced Prosciutto di Parma served with cheese, olives, pepperoncini and French potato salad – I’m not quite sure what made this French, but it was good. The meat was extremely cold, which made it rigid and I didn’t enjoy it. The cheese, although delicious and salty, was all Parmesan and I thought the platter would have been better with more variety. The roasted red pepper, olives and pepperoncini were perfect and we gobbled them all up.
Kiyo ordered his favorite dinner dish: steak. It came with roasted potatoes and green beans, simple yet classic.
After reading good reviews for it, I decided to try the goulash: beef stew with olive oil, onion, garlic, red wine and fresh herbs over house-made gnocchi. The meat was tender and the Parmesan cheese on top was a nice touch. The gnocchi was good as well but altogether it was a heavy dish. After finishing about half I was completely stuffed. It made great leftovers the next day at work!
