On our way down to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, for Spring Break senior year, Kiyo and I stopped and spent a night with my friend Laura in Fairfield, Connecticut. She brought us for a no-frills, unhealthy yet satisfying dinner at the incongruously named Garden Catering.
Famous for their chicken nuggets (made fresh in-house) and “cones,” oddly shaped, creamy tater tots, this Connecticut chain is like a homey version of fast-food.
I fooled myself into feeling a bit healthier by ordering a chicken wrap, but really, who was I kidding? This place left us feeling full and a bit heavy, but also happy and for “fast food,” this is a great option. While I would never, ever eat or enjoy the mystery-meat nuggets at a place like McDonald’s, I enjoyed Garden Catering’s tasty white-meat nuggets and unusual fried cones.
