Our last morning in Philadelphia back when Kiyo and I went this January, we were sadly too early for brunch at the tapas place we’d wanted to check out. Instead, we ended up at Mrs. K’s down the street, which was completely different from what we’d set out to experience. The small diner has two narrow, oval counter tops and only one waitress behind each. This made for a very long, drawn-out breakfast. Our waitress seemed pretty cracked out and she complained to us about the other customers. We were pretty entertained, but one couple left before their food even came. When our food did finally come, we thought it was pretty good; standard diner fare, no more and no less but sometimes this simple food reminds me of time spent in Minnesota as a child (my mom is from there) so I enjoyed it. And when the check came, the waitress let me have my hot chocolate for free!
