Happy Labor Day everyone! This weekend I stayed in New York (it seems like everyone else left) but it was well worth it. On Friday my friend Caitlin and I drove into Williamsburg (I love having my car here!) to go thrifting and eating (don’t worry, I’ll share that adventure with you soon). Saturday, Kiyo and I went to Pig Island (I’ll share that soon too, promise!) which means we gorged on pork and beer all day. Then Saturday night our friends Peter and Austin came to visit us for two nights, so overall it’s been a great weekend.
On top of all that friends, sunshine and food-related goodness, we also bought a strawberry rhubarb pie from Duane Park Patisserie. We were going to get a peach raspberry pie, but they ran out, and I think this one sounded just as delicious anyways.
We bought some French vanilla ice cream, heated up the pie, and it was perfect. Cooked rhubarb is so much more pleasant and flavorful than when it’s raw.
The pie was sort of expensive, but it was totally worth it.
