When I stayed with a friend in Brooklyn for a few days while looking for an apartment in NYC, I discovered the most wonderful little juice bar that served creative healthy food: Nectar, in Cobble Hill.
Kiyo and I split lunch to eat in the park one Saturday. We shared the cobb salad, which was pretty standard (chicken, avocado, blue cheese, bacon, tomato, romaine, mustard vinaigrette). This time we went with a menu item, but one of my favorite things about Nectar is that everything is so fresh and you can customize anything; salad, wraps, sandwiches, juices, smoothies…
We also split the avocado and sweet potato sandwich, which included red onion, tomato, jack cheese, sprouts, and horseradish mustard vinaigrette on multigrain bread. I was wary that the avocado with the sweet potato would make it to soft and mushy, but it was actually delicious and the variety of sandwich fillings kept it all well-balanced, in terms of both flavor and texture. The sweetness of the potato in a sandwich was slightly unusual but very satisfying. Kiyo wasn’t impressed that the sandwich contained no meat, but I would definitely order it again.
