My dad and sister were recently in the city, so Kiyo and I spent the day with them after I got back from Alaska. My dad’s friends told him about this new doughnut place, The Doughnut Plant, in the East Village.
Next time I go I will definitely try one of their intriguing juices, but this time I was still so full from brunch that I wasn’t ready.
I loved the cute, colorful doughnuts pattern on the benches.
As you can tell from this picture, choosing a flavor was extremely difficult; also, you have to choose between cake or yeast doughnuts (we ended up going with cake). Luckily there was a line, so we had some time to think it over!
The matcha green tea and oatmeal flavors were especially intriguing to me.
We ended up with a box of four doughnuts for the four of us, but of course we cut them up later so we could each have a little bite of each flavor.
The first doughnut we chose was the cinnamon sugar cake doughnut. Cinnamon is one of my favorite flavors, so of course I loved it. We also bought a blueberry doughnut (seen at the top of this post) which was a beautiful purple/pink color on the outside, and a deeper, vibrant blue on the inside. It tasted like fresh blueberries, and was one of our favorites.
This carrot cake doughnut was beautiful but also a bit odd, since the frosting was tinted blue. Carrot cake in doughnut form works out really great, especially since there is frosting all around it.
Our last doughnut was the chocolate (we had to get a classic one, and who doesn’t love chocolate?). They were all so delicious, it’s hard to pick a favorite, and I would eat them all again if there weren’t so many other flavors I still need to try. I’m sure I’ll be back there sometime, and I’m sure that once again, it’ll be hard to make a choice!
